Wooden ships
Ships made with native resources.
A wonder made by the technique and the know-how of the master wooden shipbuilders.
These are boats that, by their characteristics, are perfectly adapted to a professional activity: fishing, shellfish, aquaculture; and leisure.
Modern and handcrafted
The modern methods of wooden shipbuilding (use of laminates with epoxy resins, combination of the traditional method with laminated wood and even wood/epoxy/polyester combination) that are being applied in our shipyards allow us to build very high performance vessels and very low maintenance, fulfilling all the requirements of the different European directives in matters of security, stability and navigability. For this reason, Galician sailors should bet on these ships when planning their future, in terms of environmental, safety and efficiency.

Support of the territory
Another reason to build wooden boats is that the wooden shipbuilding helps to vertebrate the territory: due to the need for wood with specific characteristics, a more careful and specialized forestry is needed, with the creation of indirect jobs. This creation of indirect jobs is also due to the need to hire professionals who carry out other installations on the vessels: electricity, rescue, radio, etc.
History
Finally, because the knowledge of wooden shipbuilders and wooden boats are an intrinsic part of the history of our coastal towns, we cannot afford to lose this maritime heritage.
The tradition at the service of the technology.
